full-time member of EnvironmentalConsultancy.co.uk. However, he
often works with a number of other associates, where required.
EnvironmentalConsultancy.co.uk is able to work from bases in or
near Glasgow (Central/ Western Scotland), Northampton (Midlands/
SE England) and Cairo (Egypt). Work can also be undertaken
across the UK and internationally outside of these offices.

Pen Portraits
Dr Chris Smillie has worked and studied in the
environmental sector since 1987. After gaining a degree majoring
in Environmental Biology from Leicester University, Chris spent
the majority of the 1990s working for either the Scottish
Wildlife Trust (predominantly conducting botanical surveys) or
the North of Scotland Water Authority (now Scottish Water)
conducting microbiological analyses. As a placement for his MSc
in Water Environment from Bournemouth University, Dr Smillie
also worked with the North East River Purification Board (now
SEPA). Chris studied the relationship between mine metal wastes
and salt marsh flora in a PhD from the Camborne School of Mines,
Exeter University (now part of Combined Universities in Cornwall
- CUC). Since 2004, Chris has worked in consultancy, primarily
conducting EcIAs in the UK, with some experience in the Middle
East, North Africa and the Ukraine.
Richard Roe is a protected species specialist. Richard
holds licenses for a number of species, including bats, great
crested newt, dormouse and white-clawed crayfish. Richard has
considerable experience of delivering ecological surveys,
assessments and advice to a variety of clients from large public
and private sector organisations to individual home owners.
Jon Durward specialises in protected species and holds
a bat licence. He is an excellent ornithologist and has
substantial experience in ecological assessment. Jon has
previously been employed as a Senior Ecologist for both Jacobs
Babtie and Ove Arup.
Karen Ramoo is experienced in both UK and
international ecology. Amongst the duties she has
performed are upland vegetation assessment for Natural England,
surveying curlews in the Scottish uplands and monitoring
breeding birds in Mauritius.
Andrew Huckbody offers HSE services to worldwide
clients. Project inputs include overseas and UK pipelines,
utilities construction, transport, waste management, water
engineering and environmental studies. Andy is experienced in a
wide range of developments, throughout numerous countries and
offers services in all aspects of EIA management and document
production for planning approvals.
Paul Blinkhorn has over 25 years experience in the
analysis of Anglo-Saxon, Medieval and Iron Age pottery. Paul has
presented the Meridian TV series, Past Finders, and is a regular
contributor to Channel 4's Time Team. Paul serves as our
archaeology advisor.
Dr Zeinab Taman is an Egyptian-based geologist. She
has lectured in geology, with a specialism in Economic Geology,
for over 10 years at Ain Shams University. Zeinab has also
lectured in Environmental Geology and is the graphics specialist
for EnvironmentalConsultancy.co.uk
