SUBMISSIONS:
Starscape is accepting submissions from

  • reviewers (comics, music, television, films),
  • artists & writer/artist teams for comics/webcomics/graphic novels, and
  • prose writers for storycomics/fanfiction.

Note: at the moment, we are not accepting submissions for comic writers without artists but we are accepting text stories.

WHY SUBMIT? TERMS STYLE/GENRE ARTISTS WRITERS REVIEWERS

Why submit?
Our webcomics are often be viewed by more readers than most comic companies outside Marvel/DC.  That includes many Dark Horse and Image comics

You will get a free printed copy of your work (when available as a printed comic).

Creators will get 50% of any profit (see below for more details)

Terms
There are no page rates.  What we can offer is a showcase and a 50% split of profit (i.e. 50% to creators, so five stories would equal 10% to each creator team unless otherwise agreed).  HOWEVER, profits are small to non-existent as most material is freely available online.

Style/ Genre
Genre can be fantasy, sci-fi, horror or superhero.  Basically, action.  Whether that's historical, future, war, humorous or whatever, then that's of interest.  Slice-of-life, experimental weirdness or something outside of this action/adventure line doesn't fit, I'm afraid.

We can also host your Marvel/DC/2000AD/TV/Film etc fanfiction comics or text stories.

Style should in the same vein of most of the output of Stan Lee, Alan Moore, John Wagner, Chris Claremont, Michael Moorcock, Robert E Howard, Edgar Rice Burroughs etc etc, i.e. not overt sexual references or extreme swearing (I did say most of Alan Moore's output )

Characters can be creator-owned, or from our public domain character range, such as:

Artists & Writer/Artist Teams
Remember, we are not accepting submissions for comic writers without artists but we are accepting text stories.

Please direct me to your website to show me your artistic prowess.  If you already have a story, please send to me a synopsis of one or two paragraphs (not a script just yet) at submissions AT starscapeonline DOT com

Comics can be either colour or mono, although a trade paperback/collected graphic novel ,may have greyscale and colour versions if the comic is in colour.

Technical specs are:
  • zipped TIFF (LZW compression) or JPEGs/GIFs or PDF
  • 300 dpi
  • RGB if colour (otherwise B&W or greyscale)
  • Full bleed: 7 x 10.5" (trimmed to 6.625 x 10.25" with a live area of 6 x 9")
  • Uploaded to Rapidshare, 4shared or Mediafire

Spot illustrations (i.e. one panel/cover/poster) are also welcomed.

Prose Writers
Remember, we are not accepting submissions for comic writers without artists but we are accepting text stories.  We do accept comic artist/writer partnerships (see above).

Please send me a synopsis of one or two paragraphs (not your full story just yet) at submissions AT starscapeonline DOT com

Stories should be from 500 to around 2,500 words per chapter (preferably around 1,500).  Spot illustrations are required (except for fanfiction).  Any of these may be acceptable upon approval:

  • draw a few panels yourself, if you have an artistic hand
  • contact someone else and have them draw them
  • give me some ideas to submit to artists for them to draw.
These can be something to spotlight characters, to show off important parts of the story or just something that might look pretty spectacular.

Reviewers
Comics/Music/Television/Film
If it's in the field of comics, or TV/ movies that would appeal to comic lovers, then feel free to submit your review.  Approximately 400 words, with very small images, or links to images/youtube clips.
Terms: sorry, unpaid.
